Immigrants are the lifeblood of our industry. From farm to plate and many times over, immigrants pick, prepare, and assemble just about everything that comes to our tables. The food itself reflects their collective experience, wave after wave of dreamers the world over who have shared their culinary traditions with us and made them our own. Our bellies are fuller and our lives richer for their contributions, and we stand with them now as they come under attack.
Join us Monday, April 3rd for a dinner benefiting the Capital Area Immigrants Rights Coalition featuring: Tom Cunanan of Bad Saint, Kevin Tien of Himitsu, Daniel Perron of Whaley’s & our very own Jon Sybert each contributing dishes as part of a set menu, $150 per person (exclusive of tax, gratuity, and beverage). We will have vegetarian alternatives for everything but will not be able to avoid gluten, dairy or egg.
The meal will celebrate the “cucina povera” and the resourcefulness of immigrants everywhere transforming the humblest of ingredients into the noblest of dishes.
The CAIR Coalition strives to ensure equal justice for all immigrant men, women, and children at risk of detention and deportation in the DC metropolitan area and beyond. Everyone from our servers to cooks will be donating their time, so every cent earned will go to their programming, be it direct legal representation, impact and advocacy work, or the training of attorneys defending immigrants in court.
Reservations go live via our website on Monday, March 6th at noon.
To quote Langston Hughes: “O, let my land be a land where Liberty/Is crowned with no false patriotic wreath,/But opportunity is real, and life is free,/Equality is in the air we breathe.” Come help us breath equality back into our land for what promises to be a memorable night with some of the city’s most talented chefs.
